Wiring question

Hi

Can I ask if the diagram below, is ok (standard 2.5mm)

I need to add the two items shown on spurs.

If not, is there any easy solution?

From your diagram the circuit appears to be a radial (you haven't shown a feed back, as in a ring circuit).

If it is a radial in 2.5mm it has to be fused at 20a at the CU and the f/spur would just be the end stop of the radial circuit (so that's ok), as is the socket spur shown at the top.

But then he hasn't shown the circuit origin at all, so you can't deduce that it must be a radial.

Showing 3 sockets from one section of the circuit doesn't help - if they're on a correctly done final circuit then adding another socket and an FCU as described will be OK (notifiable if in a kitchen or bathroom though).

But if the existing sockets shown are not correctly done, e.g. they are themselves an unfused spur, then adding the new ones is not OK.

More info needed.

For the lower FCU - its gives the impression of a longer wire to it, which would be unprotected till it got to the spur ?

Thanks for all the quick responses!

It is in fact a ring circuit in a utility room, the fused spur (FCU?) is for a small tv on the wall and the extra higher-up spurred socket is for an iron or such like.. with the lower sockets for a washing machine / dryer etc

Sorry a bit more info, the FCU cable goes under the floor and is protected up the opposite wall by steel channelling the spurred socket goes under the floor and is protected & buried in the wall.

No.

Funnily enough as I was coming downstairs this morning the thought came to me, "what the heck was I talking about in this thread, BAS is going to tell me I'm talking drivel" and lo & behold....

There's no need for a FCU for the TV if you have a socket higher up where it plugs in. Unless you need it for accessible isolation. Two spurs are usually fine on a ring. But, you shouldn't really be using spurs in a utility room where heavy loads are used. If you can use two 2.5s in order to maintain the ring it would be better.

Metal capping, by the way, doesn't offer much protection. It's not the same as using earthed steel conduit.
