Robert Peston - a modern day demigod?

His first paragraph seems to be at odds with G Brown's statements about this country being best placed to weather the storm.Although having said that I have not heard prime minister G Brown making any statements on the economy lately.Where is he?

I admit it is difficult to argue against his factual statements. Admire him for his brain, well, I'd admire someone who looked at the obvious-to-many bubble, rode it for what is was, and walked away last year with a shed load of cash, and a rather smug grin on their face, rather than grandstanding about how awful it all is now.

Alot of the owners of the houses and trailor parks who sold them to the sub primers must be sitting on a fortune they are the ones with the smiles.

But isn't this recession going to develop into a depression, where thousands upon thousands are left jobless then those left in employment will be funding those without jobs which will mean higher taxes.
Then those paying higher taxes will not be able to afford consumables so the demand will be lower so more and more manufacturing staff will be laid off. Will it be a vicious circle - where will it all end?

Remember this is the same politician who said their would be no more boom and bust.

Technically this country is bankrupt, and 2009 will be worse than this year.

Anyone for a loan from the IMF.............?
Anyone for devaluing the pound............?

You ain't seen nothing yet.

Five years from now we'll have soup kitchens on the streets and riots like in Greece. The party's over folks and it's the last one we'll ever have so remember it fondly.

That sounds like a cue for a song Joe.... come on, I bet you've got something lined up eh? :D
