I'm new here - so HI :)

I hope someone can help or advise me on this prob I might have...

I have taken out my old toilet and on connecting my flexible pipe to the back of the new toilet, I noticed that the other end wouldn't fit into the soil pipe.

I evenually found that there was a sleeve pushed into an old lead soil pipe going into the Cast iron stack.

So I took off the sleeve and the other end of the flexi pipe does go into it, but not all the way... There are 4 rings of fins around the end of the flexi pipe which I guess seal the pipe when it's pushed in, but only 3 fit into the lead pipe, even with loads of soap on it for lube :(

It's a good tight fit, but I'm concerned it wont hold up! Am I doing the right thing, as I cant find any adapters after hours of lookiing on the iternet and nosing around in B&Q!

Any advise would be ACE!

Thanks - Ren

give u a clue: lead pipe is a soft material

Yea, I guessed that part, but it's not as flexible as thin rubber and I didn't want to go bashing it into a new shape :D

I giess your "clue" was leading me to think I need to bash it big enough? If not please can you expand?

Reni,

Don't go bashing the pipe you could end up with more problems that you cant sor't.

Don't worry about only having 3 fins in, as long as it is a tight fit it shoud be fine.

Test it, if it works leave it, if it don't find another soulution.

thanks ;)

I've left it over night yesterday, and today - and it's held up!

Unexpectedly my biggest problem was getting water to it! The existing pipe work was about 1cm from the wall and wouldn't pull out to get a pipe cutter on it, 45 mins to cut into it, then 20 mins to get 900 years worth of paint off :(
