Had this problem at home tonight....Broadband speed is 2000kbps when just the master point is connected. Connect the rest of the sockets up (with no phones connected) and it drops to 700 kbps.. Hmm.. must be a wiring problem or something... Start removing face plates... Anyone know what the problem was... :D

Piccy to follow, after some of you have had a try.... Bet you cant get it.. :D

PSU on a computer or a parallel cable run, either way its probably related to the Bell wire on the extensions.
 
Loose wire / no master socket / too many master sockets / capacitor sh*gged / ring wire connected in a loop / MR16 lamp powered from phone socket / any one of many more stupid faults that we have no chance of deducing...
