I am trying to uninstall AVG because it is playing up and not updating properly. It updates and asks to restart computer which I have on a number of occasions but it still does not update and shows an error.

I am hoping that a fresh install will cure this.

How can I do this as it will not budge and keeps saying uninstall failed! :(

Any other ideas gratefully received.

1. DO NOT use AVG! :D (it's nowhere near as good as it used to be)
2. Download CCleaner (fee), install it, run it, try using it to uninstall AVG.
3. Download 'Super anti-spyware' (free), install it, run a deep scan, something may have hijacked your AVG
4. Download AVIRA antivirus (free), install it, run it.....10x better than AVG.

Hope it helps

Bacho,
Use AVG Remover

AVG Remover utility removes all parts of AVG installation on your computer, including registry items, installation and user files on your disk, etc. AVG Remover is the last option to be used in case the AVG uninstallation / repair installation process has failed repeatedly.

Once it has gone think of a different Antivirus program. Some free ones for you to try:

Update... The AVG tool worked and has uninstalled the program and I now have Avira and Super anti spy on my computer. Thanks for your help fellas. :D

SuperAntiSpyware is a very good spyware remover but it does not give 'real-time' protection.
Get one of these:
Windows Defender
Spyware Terminator
So that you have some antispyware software running all the time on your computer.
Update and run Superatntispyware about every week to ten days if you are not having problems with your PC 'just to be on the safe side'.
