"rustic" plaster

Hi

The walls of our utility room are a mess-plaster fallen off one section, rough plaster where new wiring was fitted and loads of central heating pipes over the mess. The ceiling seems to be artex.

I was thinking of going for the "farmhouse uneven plaster" look and then just painting the whole room white. How can I do this??

Sounds like you've already got it

Don't know much about it but I think traditional lime plaster would give you the look, or you could artex the walls and finish them with a random pattern but tbh it's a bit 70's.

I'll have a look at that lime plaster stuff, thanks. I've just found a product called Textured Coating.

Do you think this would do it? Is this just Artex in disguise? I don't want to make 1970s patterns, I just want mess covered up and whitewashed, but want to give the impression that it's supposed to look uneven!!!
