You are totally correct, Tony. I did tell british gas when I called them that the most likely fault was the pump and the eng even had it in log when he arrived ....... didn't think to bring a spare with him on his first visit though !

doesnt work like that. whatever you tell the callcentre about the fault is irrelevant, only once the engineer gets there are parts considered.
a pump for a puma should be covered by the multihead and he should have it in his van stock. he probably covered his arse by ordering the rest of the bits and told you he didnt have one.
