I have the job of fitting a new basin where the old one was and need some advise on the tap with lever for the basin waste plug pop up.
1) will the rotating ball that the bar lever goes through be water tight and do I need to put some silicon grease in it?
2) the basin drain plug has 2 rubber seals is that waterproof or shall I put some paste on them as well?

1,it will be water tight byut you can add abit of silicone grease.
2,should seal ok on its own. cheap one do leak

Fit a basin mate then there will be no leaks. B&Q sell them but not sure what they call them. Google this part.
