What guide price can I expect for plastering?

30 year old house where we have chased in heating pipes down the wall so have decided to have the walls completely replastered/skimmed. Can anyone give me a rough guide price? do you guys uqote as a days work or by square metre? just trying to get an idea before I call in the professionals.

Unfortunately it's not an exact science!

IMHO, the best way is if you get a price for the whole job ie including agreed prep, plastering, cleaning up . Metre rates really only apply to site work or large areas in practice. Daywork is not ideal if you don't know the guy , and what he classes as a day's work. Also , it varies on where you live and how tricky the work is.

Best bet is get three quotes, by recommended people who actually call round to have a look,not just measurements over the phone. Ask to see their work (often just asking this will give you a clue by his reaction!).

Cheapest will not always be best. In fact, it rarely is!!!
 
Thank you for that, it makes sense....how long is a piece of string comes to mind?
