Hi I have concrete floors in my house and at some point the kitchen has been knocked into a kitchen diner. To that ammends there is a ridge/lump where some of the previous adjoining wall has been (possibly a pantry). It is approximately 4 foot square and is raised about 1.5 inches. There are no water, gas or electrics any where near it and I want to lay laminate flooring over it. The remaining floor slopes away gently and will not be a problem but obviously if I put laminate over the ridge/lump it will look rediculous and the laminate with bend and the joines will show. Can anyone andvise me on the easiest and most effective way to remove this ridge/lump so I can then lay the floor. Any advice on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to hire a concrete breaker, break away the raised lump, level off & seal. Then lay the floor.
Its a dusty job, lot of noise also.
OR
you could make a step up to it (that wont look nice)

you could try a floor planer which is a lot easier and quicker, when taken down to the level required simply put a little self level on and job done
