In a bathroom I have an electric extracter through the wall. when showing should we

1 use exstracter with window closed but window vent open

2 use exstracter with window open

3 Use exstracter with window and window vent closed.

Need to settle an argument.

Thanks

extractor on and window closed

you can leave the vent open if it is the opposite side of the room to the extractor, otherwise let it suck air under the door

the idea is to let the fresh air in well away from the fan so that the stale air is drawn out.

if the extractor is next to the inlet it will suck the fresh air out which is no use.

p.s. if it is while you are showering, people will complain of cold draugts if the window or vent is open. let it suck warm dry air from the house under the door. People who complain of draughts tend to turn extractors off and block ventilation thus causing damp and condensation
