Wylex MCB's. PSB v NSB

These are Type C. But can anyone tell me what the difference is between PSB and NSB please.

When flicking the PSB ones on, there is some resistance to overcome and a nasty click.

aren't NSB breakers looking at overloads and earth fault too? as in RCBO

MCB's do not detect earth faults

there's probably some suble difference in the physical shape of the breakers, probably where they connect to the busbar..

Nope. Can't see any different when the bus bar connects. or any external difference.

Like I say, the internal mechinism feels different

PSB types have fully enclosed sides. They can be fitted to 3 phase boards and also single phase consumer units with 'prong' type busbars.
Typically only supplied for 3 phase boards.

NSB have an additional slot at the bottom, so they can also be fitted onto single phase solid busbars with 'U' shaped cutouts.
These are what is supplied for domestic consumer units.

Fitting NSB breakers into a 3 phase board can lead to shorts between the phases, and the inevitable burning and destruction.

It is the breaking capacity of the mcb.

The difference appears to just be the breaking capacity. 6kA vs 10kA. It should be marked on the breaker..

Looks to be like they both have the slot for the solid Wylex busbar...
