If a spark is using a MEGA on a CU in a kitchen above and to the right of a sink, does he have to be registered with NICEIC or one of the other bodies?
Also, Megger (not Mega) is a brand name, not any test in particular.

Spark was fault finding in a kitchen where the CU is located. He had a borrowed MEGGER.![]()

You know as well as I do, that rightly or wrongly megger has come to mean IR test in just the same way as you probably hoover your carpet (but never electrolux it)
I cant see why not, he is only fault finding.

Which test(s) was he conducting?
Why do you think he would need to belong to a certain organisation to fault find?
Is he competant?

Is he competant?
1. What tests do you do with a MEGGER?
2. If I knew the answer, I would not have asked the question, would I?
3. I never set him any tests so do not really know the answer to your question.![]()

There's no need to be funny about it.
With my Megger I carry out the following tests:
Continuity
Insulation Resistance
Ze
EFLI
PFC
RCD
Measure voltage
If he's an electrician then he should be capable of testing and basic fault finding.
If not then he's not an electrician.
