I've got an interview tomorrow for an air compressor service engineer..

since my last job was wiring industrial air conditioners I hope that will help towards it since I'm reasonably familiar with pressure switches and the like from doing those but I've no direct experience with air compressors..

well I'll let you know how it goes..

Hi ColJack.

With your knowledge I am sure you will do well.
I do hope that it goes well.
If things get sticky then start asking your own questions.
Best of Luck

Remember to say please and thankyou.

Some one once said that if you imagine the interviwers naked, you will feel more confident. If not confident you will at least have a cheeky smile.

Good luck mate

Similar advice is often given to people unused to standing up in front of an audience to give a presentation.

But it's not helped by adding, as I once did to a new female member of our team, "After all, that's how the audience will be imagining you".

Anyway - good luck, Col.

Good luck ColJack, I only know you from your posts here (this forum) but this sounds like the ideal job for you.

I'm a big lad but you should see some of the spaces I squeezed into while building those air con units..
The problem is that my size makes me paranoid that every person that sees me immediately thinks "Who ate all the pies" or a variation on that notion..
It also means that I already think they'll take one look at me and decide I'm too big for the job but they'll give me some other excuse because they can't discriminate due to size etc..

for certain I know that they'll be at least thinking "if we give him the job, where are we going to get boiler suits in his size?"..

here's me suited and booted.. for my cousins wedding.. View media item 21663 View media item 21662

Play to your strength's, make sure they know good your skills and understanding are and the depth of your knowledge. Also think of what they want - a really healthy hard worker who will never miss a shift and doesn't complain too much, imagine you're like this a even if you're not but don't say anything which would put you in too awkward a position if you got the job.

Don't say, "if you ask on Diynot electrcial forum they'll tell you i'm sound as a pound" :D

for certain I know that they'll be at least thinking "if we give him the job, where are we going to get boiler suits in his size?"..

Or, they'll be thinking "all of our kit becomes a one-man lift if we hire him - money saved!"

I tell my management that I provide warmth in the winter and shade in the summer...
