The difference is when the tile is originaly painted the WHOLE tile is covered. When roofs are painted only the part of the tile thats visible gets covered. This is one(there are others) of the reasons roof coating/painting is a none runner. If it was any good i would do it,i have the ladders,im a roofer but im not doing it,why could this be?

There are more and more roofers with 30 yrs experience now doing coating. The bit of tile that does not show on a roof does not suffer from the same deterioration as it does not get wet or frost bitten, therefore does not need coating. But face it no one expects a roofer to tell a potential customer not to use HIS re-roof service, and get it coated instead.

Correct my father was sub contracted 18 years ago to coat roofs for scottish housing assosation. one half of the housing skeem was coAted with a coating that is not as advanced as the polymer available today. the untcoated half of the housing skeem had to have the roofs replaced a year ago as they where far to deteroated the clark of works qouted that it was a great success and wished they had the whole housing skeem restored.

WARNING DO NOT GET THIS DONE visit simplyroofing.co.uk for reasons why.
Thde clue is in the name...... if it said simply roof coating the content (and I haven't even looked) would be less 'sided'. Conflict of interest if a roofer talkes coating, diffferent industry. Would you want a paiunter and decorator to reroof ur house?????

Nothing one sided about the site or my comment. Take it you paint roofs or are involved in it for a living or else you wouldn't be so disgruntled by my comment. you can’t really believe that if it was a good practice which is not DETRIMENTAL to property and you are a roofer with a ladder, can climb on a roof, operate a pressure washer and you don’t have a CONCISION and you can make a mark up on the service you are providing that is extortionate, they would all be doing it… the problem is, it is DETRIMENTAL and some people will just not do some practices/procedures even if it is detrimental because it is a fast way of making money…. it’s called ethic’s. Please don’t think I write this for any other reason than fact not bank balance I have nothing to gain or lose apart from a clear concision and I do believe consumers should have all the facts but the truth is they don’t. Jeff Howell in the telegraph also gives his comments on this.

Wrinkled, with patches of manky hair and the odd insect  :?:  ..With a P* n is underneath :p

How dare you suggest that us elderly ones have manky hair. ;)
NO - The Dogs **** are ...Wrinkled etc. and the roof has a Pri*k living under it  ... My superb wit and irony is wasted on this forum - and half of them have me and Joe 90 on ignore anyway
Bump.. keep this going .4 years already  Give us a link to Heff Jowel - Joe 90 does links . I only buy the Sun.

ROOF COATINGS!!!

yes, coat your old knackered roof tiles with paint!!
reverses the ageing process, stops nail rot and preserves rotten battens.
seals cracked tiles, missing pointing, perished lead, fixes ridge tiles.
inhibits moss growth, and cuts down your maintenance costs.

looks good for a couple of weeks as well! why pay £££££ for a new roof when you can give the lone ranger £££££££ for a painted roof.

 ;)
