I've just pulled this DTC from an 07 petrol Focus:
P2297
O2 sensor out of range during decelleration.

Performance isn't affected.
Any ideas of what to do about it?
Cheers
John :)

Is it an old DTC or does it reappear if your clear the fault codes?

EGR valve sticking open on the overrun?

Hi!
I was thinking along those lines myself, but I've only done diesel EGRs
but I assume this petrol car has one too......have you any experience of these?
It was a recent DTC so I've cleared it to see if it comes back.
John :)

Yes the 1.0Litre VW in the Lupo.

But not in a Focus, that would be to easy.

John, you could try disconnecting the air mass sensor, then road test the car. The mass sensor will default to a mid range setting and obviously put the MIL light on, but if you don't get an oxygen sensor fault, it could be that.

Thanks - I hadn't thought of trying that......we'll see what happens when this weather nonsense calms down!
John :)
