Gledhill Boilermate II questions

Hi All,

I have a couple of questions regarding my Boilermate II. It was installed when the house was built c.1997 (pic attached)

1. There is some "green stuff" coming out of the cylinder drain. What is it and is it something that I should be concerned about?

2. I noticed that the lower edge of the cylinder seems to have rusted a little. Does anyone know whether this is normal for its age?

3. The green LED doesn't come on ever although the thermostat seems to work. Is this easily fixed?

you have a leak, from what I can see, on the thread of the drain cock. drain, remove, tape on thread, replace, fill, check. fingers crossed thats your only problem, but I notice a drip-like mark from immersion, how long has that been there?

It is best both joints are redone. Also refill with about 3 or 4 cans of X-100, after leak repairs have been verified.

Hi,

That drip-like mark from the immersion feels, to the touch, more like dried-on paint or similar. I've only been in the house for 6 months so I don't know how long its been there.

Before you go draining anything put some tissue paper around the immersion for a couple of days, any marking will tell you if it is a leak (I suspect it is but it might have already been repaired)

If it is not wet I would leave well alone as it has obviously sealed itself.

they have a nasty habit of blocking their cold feed which is sometimes able to be unblocked but mostly not.

you can then either backfill it nce every so often and continue to do so until it's time for it to be replaced or make a new cold feed for it and forget about it.
