gas pipe channelled into walls

views please.
loooking at pipework recessed into various different wall constructions today.
Does anyone have any views on best practice on the prefered method of material to use. the regs only stipulate the type of vapour barriers and also prevent using screwed or compression fittings. unless i have missed something, again!

i do remember some time ago when i was told that steel was prefered to prevent mechanical damage from nails .

If you've just finished I'm surprised you're not fully up to speed on this. If you can't remember, check your textbooks, it'll certainly be in there

There is a BIG section on pipe work in all the On Site guides such as the NIC Book or the old Corgi Essential Gas Safety or viper guides these are freely availible a little "night time reading" is recommended!

Well.
thanks for reminding me that the viper book is more detailed than the gas safety 5th edition book. found the section you mentioned and it does clear up my confusion. 5th edition drawings do not go into such depth, and i hardly ever refer to the viper book. will learn in future. should have been obvious really since i have an electrical background. perhaps it was too obvious?
my previous note was meant to say that i have no access to the combustion chamber. I do have all the relevant gas information, but i find that i miss the obvious sometimes. It really must be my age!
