Hello i would like to install a wall light outside on the back garden wall
can anyone give me clear and precise details as to how to go about wiring up

thank you so much

Ouitside, in your back garden?
or outside your back garden? which could be anywhere, other than your back garden that is.
A bit more info is needed please, where in the UK do you live.
Have you ever heard of part p or notifiable work?

Hi Jaffa - from my reading of your question I'm not sure whether you want the light on the house wall overlooking the garden, on on a wall somewhere down the garden and away from the house. The difference in siting the light will make a big difference to the advice you get on how to get the wire to the light.

What sort of power supplies have you got on the inside of the wall - eg, sockets at floor level, sockets at worktop level? How much damage are you willing to accept on the inner wall to get cabling and switching in place?

Hi mate i dont mind what damage i make
in the kitchen i have 3 double sockets and next to 2 of them there are 2 fused sockets one to the fan and one to the boiler.
In the living room there are a couple of double sockets one of which i took a spur of for the garage
cheers

Assuming you want to switch the light on from inside, take a spur from one of the double sockets to a new switched-fused connection - use a 5A fuse to downrate for lighting. Drill out through the wall, run cable externally to where you want the outside light, job done.

This will be notifiable work to the LABC, or get a suitably-accredited sparky in to do it.

According to note (i) on page 9 of Approved Document P it's not notifiable.
Thanks again
just to pick your brains again, the double socket in the kitchen has a fused spur coming of it ,can i take a spur of either the double or the fused spur.
