WHICH CCTV SYSTEM?

I am thinking of installing a CCTV security system using a DVR. I saw a system at a friends house last week that revolved around an AVTech DVR system and two dome cameras. The system looked ok until you got close up to the screen, and then you realised the images were quite grainy, also when you clicked on the control panel there was about a 4 second delay from pressing a function button (say rewind) and the request being carried out.

The system was connected to a computer monitor which may explain the grainy image, but I would appreciate any views, or recommendations on what to get. I personally would be frustrated waiting for the commands to be followed when using features within the software - is this the norm, as 4 seconds is quite a long time to wait?

you get what you pay for with cctv. cameras depend on what you need to see really if you are willing to pay a bit more for a couple of mega pixel cameras then i would strongly suggest that you do. with dvrs DM or Vista are quite good and its worth looking on ebay as many engineers swap perfectly good ones on sites due to upgrades etc and then sell them on cheap. I would advise staying away from the cheap package ones. hope this helps

I have been looking at Vista models, but there are so many options and models. Could you or anybody makes any specific recommendations?

Thanks

This a set up?
The camera's you claim to be looking at are not compatible with the recording medium you claim to be interested in. Not from Harrogate are you?

sorry you have totally lost me with that one

I am looking for advice and somebody mentioned two particular brands of DVRs. I have NO knowledge of CCTV systems.
