Hi

Just hoping if someone might help me, I have a sliding patio door, installed in 1992 with Regent handles, the cylinder/barrel spring has broken, when the key is in it just turns and turns, because the doors are so old I have been told a replacement cylinder lock will be £115 is this right also the locksmiths I went tried to see if there were replacements handles with a lock for my door, they said no replacements suitable.
Does anybody know of anyone who might have old patio doors anywhere?

Also I bought a lock suitable for a sliding door because of the very expensive price for the cylinder, but, I am not sure where I should put it, as the instructions are not very clear, the door that slides open slides from the right to the left and slides open on the outside. I think most patio doors open on the inside.
My fixed side is on the left and the side that opens liked I said goes fron right to left.

Can anybody help on any of the above.

A pic will help so we know what type of lock you refer too, should be simple to find a replacement.

got the hang of this now. Another picture of the handle and the door. If a replacement handle/lock isnt availlable, I have bought one of the small locks that you put at the bottom, but, not sure where it goes, that is why there is a picture of the door. The opening side, opens on the outside.

Ingersoll PDL1 would be a good retro fit surface lock.

One top one bottom.

As mentioned above, Regent do a replacement cylinder, but the lock body and handle are no longer made.

If you have a search around, you may find it even cheaper.

Thanks, just looked at the website so much cheaper £40 dont mind paying that, but, £115 that I was told was abit of a shock, just going to give them a ring just in case I might need to return it. Then I will return the two surface locks I purchased just in case there wasnt a replacement. Will let you know how I go on. Thanks again.
