How to wall hang a basin with no mounting holes...

Morning,

I have a bauhaus elite 50 basin (can't get the to upload) which I intended to wall mount using the appropriate vanity unit. The vanity unit is now no longer wanted so I need to find a way of hanging a basin which does not have the usual holes on the rear face for bolts.

Any idea how I would do this? My limited options appear to be -

a) Drill mounting holes in the sink.
b) see a).

I am flumoxed (if thats how you spell it).

If your not going to use the vanity unit I reckon you will have to use L brackets sunk into the wall and use mastic to hold the basin to the brackets, if there are no holes in the basin its not designed to be wall hung so dont drill holes in it.

The problem with L brackets is that the basin only has a thin 'skirt' on which to sit on the brackets - ~14mm. Would this be wide enough to safely mastic?

your basin isint designed to be wall hung so whatever you do is going to be a bit of a bodge (I dont mean that in a bad way ) I would either change the basin for one designed for purpose or use the vanity unit that came with it, if the basin comes off the wall its going to make a mess and the couple of hundred quid for a new basin will seem like a bargain.

Why not use a centre support bracket, whatever wash basin you got, it's got an 1.25" outlet. A centre support bracket fixes to the wall, then the adjustable part fixes to the waste. Sorry I can't be arzed finding a link.

Although, this supports at the waste plus 2 points at the rear of the basin.

Sorry, which would be too flimsy? The Armitage Portman or the "L" brackets?

I am struggling finding anyother central support brackets - those I can find seem basin specific and are not provided with dimensions...If you can find a link to the ones you were referring to I would be very grateful.

Thanks charnwood, unless I can find a single central support, those L brackets look like a decent compromise.

All you need to do is check the waste dimension from the wall of the 'Portman' & see if it's like your basin.

The flimsy 'L' shaped one Charmless recommended.
