Valiant boiler F28 code and not igniting but water ok

Green light comes on but not the amber light. Switching off and back on again doesn't do anything to fix it.
No hot water or heating.

Anyone know what to do?

Please don't say call a plumbing and heating engineer.

Easy and obvious thing to try: check there's gas. Does the cooker work for example? Also I would go to the meter and confirm that the main valve (ECV) is fully open and nothing has fallen against it or whatever.

Also you've turned the boiler off and on but have you pressed the reset button (picture of flame with a cross on it)? Might help.

TurboMAx 828 i believe looking at the manual. I have tried the ignite button the suggested 3 times but just goes back to error code F28 with red light on.

How do i check the main valve is open? Done the reset button with no success the max 3 times. I have gas on the cooker hob.

The lever should be in line with the pipe and valve body, not across it. There's often a yellow sticker with an on-off diagram near the meter.

I've had callouts where something has fallen against the lever and knocked it. Also I had one where the lever was only partially closed and the cooker worked but not the boiler, which is why I suggested you check.

If it's not that, I can't think of anything else you could try yourself - it's probably Yellow Pages time.

I also raised the water pressure up to 2, but it dropped down to just under 1 fairly soon afterwards slowly but has stayed at that level since.
