Can anyone tell me what type of waterproof membrane I need for my retaining wall? Is there a certain gauge?

Thank you, I appreciate your help.

Any waterproof membrane will do the trick.
keep in mind they require a reasonable overlap, you can buy a special tape to stick them together.
Best bet is to put 9mm waterproof ply between the membrane and the soil to protect it, and then six inches of shingle to enable the water to easily run down to the land drain or French drain you are fitting below the bottom of the wall to move the water round it.
You don't want to create a dam with the water pressure pushing over the wall.
