Are we mugs?

Is there a point when you need to take a step back...and think?

Has anyone had a dry Martini, or Dry Cider?

It clearly isn't dry, it's wet.

Is evaporated milk a rip off? Surely if it's evaporated, then the tin is empty?

Why does milk come in standardised bottles, from the milkman, not shops, why does sterilised milk have a different top?

Why use foil tops on milkman delivery, in freezing weather, so the ice inside the bottle cause the lid to pop, with ice?

Well Micky,,, I'm drinking "old style "Vodka, in a modern style glass tonight (or should that be modern vodka (only bought today) in an antique glass?? Hmm let's look at the empirical data. .... The vodka is probably less than 2 months old, yet the glasses we're drinking out of are most certainly older than the vodka.

So the real question is..."Am I drunk yet? (or just in an altered state of reality?" ;) ;) ;)

Yes, I remember 1/3 pint bottles of milk at school.

Until Thatcher The Milk Snatcher came along in October 1970.

under 5's still get free 1/3 bottles

Memories of being forced to drink warm creamy milk in summer put me off drinking it (other than in tea) for life

Where livest thou?

My youngest is nearly 7 and we never got milk for him, or the other two.

Thatcher did get rid of the national provision for free milk, but I suppose individual authorities may have carried it on.

She only got rid of milk for over 7's

I grew up in ealing and the LEA seemingly decided to fund milk post 7 out of their own budgets.

Re my suggestion that under 5's are still entitled to have free milk

Not sure why your kids don't get it? It also looks as though most schools have an option to buy subsidised milk for over 5's

On closer inspection http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10904958 it looks as though they might have to pay for it and then claim the money back

Massive memories of that.
Still dont drink it to this day.
Crates of tiny bottles left in the sun, then given a straw to drink it with.
Dear god............. A memory I thought would never haunt me again.

Hermetically sealed means sealed so as to be airtight.

I think that was '79 she came into power? maybe as a minister, she got rid of milk earlier than that, but certainly not '70 for me! I was born '72, unless as stated local councils continued?

You are well aware that Maggie invented whippy ice cream?

Joinerjohn, I don't understand the concept of 'old style' Vodka? Surely there is only one way to make it? Maybe the new method is to triple filter/distill it? You could do that 20 times if needsbe. I suppose the old vodka comprises potatoes, and most people store alcohol incorrectly. White wine chilled, red wine room temperature, Vodka frozen. It won't freeze.

Also, I learnt recently that contrary to popular belief, you can make your own Vodka at home, it's only illegal to sell it.

As you state 'hermetically' sealed refers to crown tops, so not all milk is hermetically sealed?

I've drunk milk straight from a cow to a churn, because I worked on a farm, and raw milk is disgusting!. Urgh!

I wanted to be random, and was sent free JD glasses that are square, and thought, hmm..so searched out square plates etc...could not find any. Then on 'Come dine with me', everyone uses them!

If you fill out a JD form, they just send you free stuff, every couple of months. I recommend everyone do it. I've placemats, mousemats, wallets, cocktail stirrer, keyrings, whatever.

I don't think so

Although for a time she worked for a food company that was exploring how to sell us more fresh air by mixing it with the product.

no

but giving a reason why the myth you perpetuated might have come about

Did you know she headed the government which removed the Royal Navy's presence in the South Atlantic, resulting in the Argentine government's belief that UK had stopped defending the Falklands, and leading to their invasion?

One important development in the 20th century was the introduction of soft ice cream. A chemical research team in Britain (of which a young Margaret Thatcher was a member)[19][20] discovered a method of doubling the amount of air in ice cream, which allowed manufacturers to use less of the actual ingredients, thereby reducing costs. It made possible the soft ice cream machine in which a cone is filled beneath a spigot on order. In the United States, Dairy Queen, Carvel, and Tastee-Freez pioneered in establishing chains of soft-serve ice cream outlets.

I do believe she had some issue with the Falkland Islands.

The major one being she said "its ours, so Koff" .
