Hi, I am about to order planed oak boards to use as window boards. I am ordering them from here:
www.venbros.co.uk/
The plan is to finish (sand, router edge and oil) the planed boards, then countersink screw them down to solid walls. a few of the boards are over 9" deep (largest is 275mm). the plan is to have them about 1 inch (22mm) thick. Is this a sound plan, or will I need to rout some anti cupping grooves into the back? I cant find any character oak window boards anywhere locally, without going to somewhere that charges an absolute fortune!
Any suggestions where I can get 275mm finished oak window boards from or any suggestions as to finish planed boards to make them more suitable? I am ok at DIY but hardcore DIY and routing joins between boards is a bit above my level.
