Will 50% Feed in tarrif cuts effect existing installations?

Does anyone know if this effects existing installations?

There's now been some backtracking....

The EST removed the document from their website earlier today then the DECC tweeted "Consultation on changes to the solar PV FIT to be published to Parlt on Mon. Doc on EST site earlier was neither final nor accurate. #FITS".
The EST then made a press statement:

"In response to speculation on our position on the government’s review of Feed-in Tariffs, an Energy Saving Trust spokesperson said:
“We’ve been working on a draft consumer guidance document in relation to the Fast Track Review of Feed in Tariffs for Solar PV to pre-empt the Government consultation which is expected next week. Preparing advice on a potential announcement was the responsible thing to do as the leading consumer advice body in this area. Unfortunately, due to a technical error this document was made live.
“This is a work in progress document which is no longer on our web site and cannot be relied upon as the Government consultation has yet to be announced. Then and only then will we know the precise contents. We cannot confirm anything within our fact sheet until then.”

Looks like it. We'll see come Monday if they agree to and announce exactly what was proposed in the document.
This will put a lot of people out of work.

If they are making money out of PV, then yes, absolutely, and without a yoctosecond's hesitation and without a shred of remorse.

What would be even better would be retroactive cancellation of FIT contracts, so that all the people who already have them find that they get not one penny more.

if they reduce by 2% and assume an average 4% inflation[6%]

lets first go for the equation with only 4% inflation

so at 4% inflation the return halves in around 15 years
generation will also be around half as the equipment becomes less efficient

And so is the greedy banker with his multi-million unearned bonus, and all those very rich people who live in expensive apartments where they can't install PV, so stop whinging about "little old ladies" - the subsidy makes up a fraction of a per cent of anyone's electricity bill, and where else is the money going to come from to fund R&D for future power generation? Government? Oh yes, out of taxation (us again). Don't you understand economics? At the end of the money chain it's always US who pays.

PV at our latitudes and with the meagre amount of sun hours we get is a bit of a con anyway- I could see the point on a nice big roof in southern Spain, but not here, and especially not where I live- we've had a weeks good weather this year, and our existing solar thermal panel has been pretty much redundant.
Solar, useless. Wind, unreliable. The only true renewable source we have(and I say we as an SNP voter, it's Scottish not British) is the tides that surge around the islands and headlands up here twice a day in both directions....that folks, is a proper source of continuous energy and where the R&D should be focussed....
I agree with BAS, hope these smug tossers with PV get well stung by the FIT reduction- think of the mugs that have rented out their roofs to companies fitting them for "free", bet they'll be getting nothing from that scam now...

Oh I see.

So cars became better and cheaper because in the 1920's the Government made people pay more for their bicycles so that the purchase of Bentleys could be subsidised.

It all makes sense now.
