I'm looking to have wrought iron drive gates fitted and have been pricing up.

Gap of 2.2 metres to fill and have been quoted by a local co £225 for made to measure gates and £15 each for the posts.

How much to install I asked........................£650  I said including gates?
Co said no, install only.

Co said the job would take a day!

I won't be investing and Im out. 8)

Good price for the gates.
Fitting, 2-3 men probably 1/2 day to set out and fit posts and them to set.
Using post creete or similar. Then make good surface. So not too bad.

You could fit yourself, not too difficult as long as you have adjustable hinges.
The digging equiment, means of disposal of soil ( not cheap). And the time.

A typical gate your size fitted and powered would be in the region of £2900.00, including electrical works and certification.

Roughly £1000 for a fitted set of Iron gates. What do you want, bells and whistles on them too?

Give you another laugh i got a letter from stroke research charity . They where only after a donation of 1300 quid or 265 quid for a one day something or other.
The cheque is in the post.

Have the gates and posts made ( with adjustable hinges ) and get a mate to help you to fit them. Not rocket science to fit. Spirit level, Drain or clay spade,
18ins -2ft deep holes 3or4 Bags of postcrete, set them using blocks and props then leave them as long as you can, over night if possible.

I dont want gold plated gates.

£1000 for 2 gates 2m by 1m high supplied and fitted is the going rate?

£650 for two titchy holes? so is it one gate at 2.2m or two at 1.1m? that's tiny. I've dug out ten holes 1m deep for fence strainers around my place, in glacial stony rubbish takes about an hour a hole providing you don't hit a biggie boulder. If your ground is soft/clay I'd be tempted to take it a lot deeper than 2ft, but if the gate posts aren't too wide it won't be a lot of material and will take no time...
Joe is a rip off merchant I'd do it for £60, plus travel expenses of course

And this shows you do not have a clue about fitting something you have to guarantee.

Could add more but the above is suffice.

joe-90 Your really on another planet.

Yes. It's called planet Earth.

You must be on planet Zog. Polski will do it for £30 quid. No wonder you live on benefits.

Here we go again with that old chestnut.
Where am I living on benefits?

Oh right, because I post when I want and you dont agree with that, get a life.

Once again you make comments on something you know nothing about, your rather good at that are you not. That includes the subject matter and your assumptions.

I have worked you out now, when confused you make things up so you feel better.
