hi just wondering what the pro fitters use for fitting the cill direct to brick silicone or gripfill or lay a thin strip of board first? then use either silicone or gripfill?

im not sure woody thats why im asking lol, i've just ripped one out that was stuck on with silicone there was a thick layer of render and terracotta tiles as aggregate on the bricks but they had put a strip of board on top of the render "screwed on"
then silicone and upvc board on top of that, i was going to run a course of fresh bricks along the top to make the height up because i took the layer of render off which was well thick and coupled with a 15mm board it was almost the thickness of a brick so the height has to be made back up i was thinking of sticking the new upvc cill to the fresh row of bricks with either silicone or gripfill
