Hey guys,

Firstly I'd like to say sorry if the has been asked before..and I'm sure it has..I just can't seem to find ilthe answer anywhere.

As you can probably guess I'm trying to connect some LV plinth lights to a PIR. I've tried connected them to a security one and it failed..didn't work at all.

Spoke to a couple of guys at screwfix..and the guys that supposedly knows it and he didn't have a clue.

Would any of u be able to tell me which one I'd b able to use either from Wickes, scewfix or b&q?

Thanks

Did you wire it up correctly?

Was it suitable for the type of lighting you're using?

Did it work anywhere else, with any other type of load?

Please write in English.

There are other places to buy from.

As long as it says it's OK for your type of lights I can't see why any indoor ceiling mounted PIR wouldn't be OK.

Although heaven only knows why you want to drive yourself mad by having them on a PIR...

Sorry for my school boy errors..b & u.

I'd like to think I'm wiring them correctly. The pir I tried to use was a exterior security pie..maybe that's why. It also required a neutral..the LV Lights I have only have 2wires..not 3.

I'm new to this kind of work.

Would you be able to reccomend a certain pir?

The wiring for a external PIR (motion detector) and internal PIR (occupancy detector) is essentially the same. If you can't get it work with the motion detector then either you have wired it wrong or the detector is duff or both.

Without detailed explanation of what you have done you won't get much help. As you are new to this, perhaps a call to a electrician is in order.

External PIRs have a photocell so they only work in the dark.

They only way it will work is if you run it in daylight (test) mode.
Why did you not get an internal PIR?

Just as a sanity check: Do the lights work if you connect the switched live feed to the lights to a permanent live?

I didn't provide it with a N.

I don't know why I didn't get a interior one..maybe because I work at wickes and the only ones we sell are security or alarm ones.

I do know the basics..just need to know which would be best to use.
