Urgent tile help please?!

12mm wbp ply on walls is a sh i t method and is a no no IMO....

1000x300 tiles, and this muppet has dot/dabbed yer tiles on ffs.....

dont know why your worried about ...primer on the ply .....he has dot/dabbed 1metre tiles ffs....

hope you aint planning on putting any mirrors/sanatuary wear onto to them.....your a cert to crack them tiles just drilling into them, with all them VOIDS behind them.....

tiles off that size should have 100% coverage....

p.s..
its only biulders that ply out walls, thats why you should employ a tile fixer..
best off....(yer going to need it)......

seen many a job, were the ply has bled through to the grout/cracks running down entire walls etc...

The walls nust have the adhesive spread on the wall 1st using suitable size notch trowel then back butter the tile for full coverage. Builders arnt tilers no matter what he tells you but if your happy youll just let him plod on. Id remove the ply walls back to the studs and do the walls again with backer boards for tiles that size if you want the job to last.
Make sure he uses flexible adhesives/grouts also as he may just use cheap crap which equals more profit!

Your clearly researching this and rightly so, dont be scared to approach the builder with the info you find on here. I mean surely everyone on here cant be wrong giving you the same advice ;)

Very rarely happens. Not saying that doesn't happen, but very rarely and especially so when using cement based adhesive. Usually confused with the discolouration found from a few months use of soap/shampoo.

pmsl....

soap/shampoo.......we must have more cowboys than injuns up ere then..

anyone imo...
who uses or says ply the walls....
or thinks its ok...

want to come into the 21st century.

they would be surprised at what materials are out there now..

Thanks guys.

The tiles are all off now and being cleaned to see what can be salvaged.

I've had a prof tiler come around last night. I told him I'll get the builders to build the walls/floor to his desired spec and then he will tile. He has asked for the following

1) Walls. Leave the ply where it is and cover it all with 6mm backer board.

2) Floors. The rest of the loft has 18mm chipboard. He said to keep the floors level to use the same 18mm chipboard and then he will cover it with another layer of something (lamitech?)

How does this sound?

Thanks for your help
