I have just installed a new hot water cylinder along with a new immersion heater I filled the system and all looked ok ?
Well untill I noticed a small drop of water around the immersion I have re-tightend as much as I dare how much preasure should I use to tighten this ?
I installed it using the card washer only I'm now thinking should I have used some PTFE tape or someting around the thread ?
If so would I be better off removing it and starting again ?
Or should I give it another tighten ?????
I think after the last time it may have stopped but don't want any problems in the future..

PTFE tape wouldn't hurt, but you should only need the fibre washer provided.

This guy hits it with everything. If you can get several sealing methods on it, hopefully you won't need to over-tighten it. This will make replacement easier in the future.

I`ve always put ptfe round the threads - bunched up @ the front the fibre washer ,- ie. washer onto immersion , then the tape - leaving the start of the threads clear to screw into the cylinder - hundreds done - leaks none
