...want me to change your SELV transformers, please empty the loft so I can get in.

Oh and the electric cupboard as well. I am not going to work live. Why?

Because it hurts. And I'd get the sack.

In the days before safe isolation, me and my boss did some work in a kitchen. He pulled out the plug-in MCB and left it by the board. He told the guy we were working in the kitchen and the power would be off for the forseeable.

Next thing I know, I'm standing on a worktop connecting up a socket when I get thrown across the kitchen. Luckily I was not badly injured.

The customer got fed up without his telly, went to look at the 'box, discovered the breaker out and reconnected the supply.

That's why I'm very much in favour of safe isolation...

A few years ago, at the end of a long day, I told a customer that all the power was going to be off for about an hour.

She said, "I was going to watch Emmerdale, but don't worry, I'll video it"

Where was the socket? On the ceiling?

I was asked to install a new shower, I asked whether they would prefer a thermostatic shower from the existing hot/cold water system or whether they would like an electric one.
The person ordering the work said they would prefer an electric one, as I would then have no need to install any pipe work!

Did a similar thing many years ago when changing a light pendant for an old dear.
Took the fuse out and left it on top of the cupboard, went round the corner to our house to get a spare pendant I had, came back, gets up the ladder and grabbed both cables to tidy the bare ends.
That was one hell of a way to get off a ladder!!! She thought I had forgotten to put it back in.

Always made sure after that any fuses/mcbs went in my pocket and if I left for any time checked on my return it was still dead! You never know if they 'borrow' one from another circuit while you are gone.

If I had a quid for every time I was working on the lights and the customer said, "Can you see all right, shall I turn the lights on ...."

Bedside sockets can provide an insight into the customer's secret life style if you get there before the customer has cleared the informative items from under the bed.

I had pulled the bed back and was feeding a bell cable under the floor when I knocked over a bedside cabinet. The thing emptied out various vibrators and a strap on :D The bloke and his Mrs could not get them hidden away fast enough

Why do they always put the washing machine on before you get there?

Why don't they ever move anything that's in the way before you start?

Why is it on every occupied re-wire there is a piece of glass or an unframed mirror that you can't find a safe place for?
