It's not going to happen. Forget it folks - it's a non-starter.

Labour are already blocking it in the Lords to protect their voter fan base.

And what it has to do with the Church is a mystery.

Oh yeah, those resurrection injuries must be giving him some gyp...
(I just realised, can my comments be construed as religiously prejudiced?)

Truth is blatant, no matter who is in power the benefits merry-go-round will never stop. The hole that has been dug is too deep. Simple.

I know too many people that it pays more not to work than it does for them to get off their lazy @rses to even look for work.
Example, I work 40+ hours, salaried at £35k, and I reckon I work hard for that.
Girl in our service department works 20 hours earning £8k PA and yet still clears £37k PA with the £29k coming in benefits of all kinds (she has 3 kids all of school age, single parent). No one can tell me that this is right by any stretch. She won't do OT or improve her performance rating as "if I earn more then my benefits are cut" - Her words, not mine.

It can't stop but it can't continue. Therefore, the whole system must collapse and be rebuilt. London - twinned with Athens.

Agreed, maybe then the real work-shy will be exposed - if it's rebuilt sensibly.

The trouble is it won't be pretty. House prices are at least double what they should be. So even if you are a 'have' you'll end upo with the 'have nots'.

I'm definitely not a have, by any means.
Both my wife and I work hard to support our son, we get no help or benefits and, luckily (but through tragic circumstances) own our home outright.
I know it's not worth what the market would try to have me believe but I also don't feel that we paid over-the-odds for it either.

But I get what you mean, sometimes it has to get ugly for people to stand up and pay attention.

Yes but that's where Labour and the Church step in to negate any good the government is trying to do.

What right do either have when every poll shows the populace are massively favour of the cuts. They weren't voted in.

My view on modern politics is that no matter how sensible the proposal from the governing party, the opposition (aptly) feels it is their duty to oppose it on the general principle of being the opposition. I often think that the commons resemble my wee lad's Toddlers group, except the toddlers stay awake for the session and seem to make more sense :D

The Church, not so sure where they feel they fit in this - unless it's just an opportunity to get their oar in.

i think the church getting invovled is because there concerned that the greedy beggars will start camping out in churches holding there begging bowls out, lets face it the church is poor ISNT IT.they dont want to start spending there billions helping the so called needy.

we were chatting about this at work today, and ive got to agree with an old sparks when he said,if someone is living in a palace at 1k month then move them to a far cheaper area at a 1/4 of the cost, coz lets face it they have absolutely no interest in getting a job when they can get by without.

ive got 3 kids,it would probably pay me NOT to work, because by the sound of it id get more.BUT thats not me,i go to work and work hard for it,and yes we do struggle.
my missus cannot work, she gets dla, which was a battle in its self in getting.
she is on about 26 tablets a day for 3 disks in her back which are slowly disintergrating.the pain killers she is on makes her life bearable without makes my life ****e.
my youngest was born with bi-lateral talipes he had corrective surgery at 4mths old and still has problems and has to wear pedro boots specially made for him(paid for by health authority at about £150 a pair)we kept getting refused dla for him and ffinallygot it(low rate)he was on it for 2 years now the govt have taken that away from him,he is on constant pain relief.nothing will stop him trying to lead a normal life,i:e running playing etc,BUT according to the govt he is normal.

I suspect that the church feels that it has a moral obligation to help the poor. In which case why doesn't it open its doors to the destitute and let them sleep in their buildings, and while they're at it they could sell off all their jewellery and ornaments (paid for through tithes throughout the ages) as well as other estates and give the proceeds to the needy.

Oh, silly old me, I forgot that they only look out for the underdog in theory and not in practice

Maybe they are saving the money for when people are poor, no one is poor today in my eyes, maybe a few years if things do go t1ts up.

Dream on. Throughout history the church has been quite cold blooded about collecting its tithes from the poor. They hand jack-all out to the needy.
