BREAKING NEWS-HARRY REDKNAPP CLEARED OF TAX EVASION

As a Geordie, I'd like to see Martin O'Neil get the England job.

martin o'neil isnt a geordie
I'm a Geordie. Martin O'Neil is the manager of Sunderland Football Club and is doing a very good job of it. Sunderland are local rivals to Geordie football club Newcastle United. Therefore I, being a Geordie, would like to see Sunderland lose O'Neil and England gain an excellent manager.

Humour seems to get lost when you have to explain it.

:) :)

I only thought it, that Harry would get convicted but if you get a jury trial against the HMRC I guess the jury will win most times. After all some of those may have had problems with the HMRC anyway. It would have cost Harry a lot of money to fight this case and if he had spoken to HMRC about it in the first place then a bill for a few thousand would have all he needed to pay. However, he felt he shouldn't have needed to pay it. He must have been advised as such. If I had done it I think I would have relented and paid some tax because I could not afford the legal stuff.
Maybe in future if you are given money abroad so long as its not connected with your employment (wink, wink) it would not be taxable. I do believe this has opened up a whole load of problems for HMRC. There may be tax payers that have been hanging on the verdict of this jury to resolve their problems.

The comments from the HMRC fella suggested, at least to me, that whilst they have to abide by the result of the case, they don't believe it to be the correct outcome. Therefore they will persist in their campaign against this sort thing.

However, a precedent has been set so yes, i too believe a can of worms has now been opened.

I suppose you're too young to remember Moran and Mcqueen kicking seven kinds of cr*p out of Dalglish and Rush every year when Liverpool were winning the league all the time. United used to treat every game against them like it was a world cup final.  Apart from the season when they were in the second division of course.
