Potterton Suprima 50L lockout .. ?call engineer

I inherited a 2004 Suprima after moving house in 2008.

After a few lockouts I got Potterton to replace the PCB (free as it was one of the old dodgy PCBs).

It's behaved itself reasonably well since.

I did have a noisy fan replaced in 2010 - and another lockout was investigated at the same time (several components replaced .. thermistor was one I think). They also put some X100 inhibitor in.

Has been fine since, although I have noticed some "kettling"-like noises in the morning.

Then this morning I had a lockout - so GF had a cold shower !

Quickly reset it before leaving for work - reset immediately.

Could this just be an isolated lockout or the sign of something more sinister ?

Should I wait & see if it happens again or call on my D&G Heatteam cover straightaway ?

Because Potterton acknowledged several years ago that there was a fault. If the boiler is on their "list", they replace the PCB free of charge. Mine was

Watchdog finally got a confession from Potterton and after this was aired on BBC1, they offered a free pcb upgrade if the boiler was a certain age iirc.

I had several customers who got free pcbs - and everyone of them said how grumpy the potty guys were.

I'm guessing the suggestion will be just to call them out (as I'm paying for the annual cover !) ...

Are you in a hard water area?

could be build up of limescale or a blockage, or a CH fitter trapped in the pipes
