I've done a fair bit of wall tiling in the past, but need to do my first floor tiling job.
I was just wondering what the best adhesive to use is? From what I can see on the web, B&Q's are terrible, Wickes' own brand had pretty good write ups (but I'm a bit dubious of 'big shed' stuff anyway) and Topps' BAL stuff is overpriced.

The floor has been provided with a self levelling screed.

Any help much appreciated

bal or Mapei topps own brand stuff not too bad made by palace just make sure its a trade adhesive

Powder cement only for floors but what sort of floor is it, solid (concrete) or suspended timber? What size & type of tiles are you laying?

Avoid cheap DIY products sold by the sheds & I wouldn’t use own brand stuff either; have tried some but not the Topps stuff. For good quality trade products; BAL, Ardex, Webber, Mapei (but not Mapei Buildfix sold by BNQ). I use BAL exclusively &, IMO, it’s the very best & gives consistent results but Topps are notoriously overpriced for DIY. Even if you don’t have a trade account, you can sometimes get a trade discount if you look/speak the part but it depends on the branch & the guy behind the counter; otherwise visit your local trade tile outlet or buy on-line but there will be a delivery charge unless you buy enough of it.

Thanks for the replies.

The floor is concrete, covered in old quarry tiles which has then been self levelling screeded.

We only actually screeded as we were going to put vinyl down but then she saw some fancy Victorian style tiles in Topps!

The tiles are 450mm square.

Thanks

What sort of SLC? May be best to use a flexible adhesive; what are the tiles made of? Floor needs to be nice & flat with large format tiles, also use a large format trowel - 20mm round notches, 13mm deep, at 28mm centres.

Now I am in the realms of guesswork! The tiles look old enough to be original do I'd guess clay.

I think the screed is latex but I'd have to check with the builder.

Only thing I can see about the tiles is they are "large format ceramic"

Thanks again

Unless natural or reconstituted stone, the tiles will almost certainly be made of fired clay but could be ceramic or porcelain, there is a difference & some porcelain tiles are absorbent which is important; check which you have if you can.

Regards the SLC type; again, it could be important so check which type you have.
