I do believe that Joe is judging all men by his own standards. I'm not a doctor but I do work in a hospital and patient welfare is a serious business. We technologists often have to go into treatment rooms with patients in situ, half undressed, but there must be a radiographer present and we wait until they say we can enter. That's an unbreakable rule.

We also have to watch how the machine is running from outside, with the patient visible on two video monitors. Do we ogle the patients? Absolutely no way never!

If I can remember that far back, I would have made a point of taking her to the male doctor because we didn't have much faith in the female alternative. You don't seem to understand how doctors work. There would have to be someone else present in the surgery: probably a (female) nurse or one of us parents or both. It's called the chaperone system and it's standard practice.
