simples.

Used to be held up by old giffers driving at 40 on trunk roads instead of a useful 50-60mph,

Now I get big Mercs and performace cars doing 40mph on trunk roads..

If you can't afford the petrol get another car instead of holding everyone else up you selfish morons!

I have a 1.2 and I can drive everywhere at 60 on A roads or 70+ on motorways and I get over 45mpg WITHOUT HOLDING PEOPLE UP LIKE A T**T...

Well that was straight to the point. :P
I enjoy driving slow, but if they cant pass & I think they could hard luck, if its not easy to pass, then I will pull over or speed up.
I used to love driving at 95/105, it keeps you more alert.
But that was before mobile phones were 2 a penny.
(I used to drive faster than the cells could switch, resulting in dropped calls, brilliant.)

Even my 1.2 can overtake people doing 40 but only if I can get anywhere near them instead of at the back of the snake they have created.

I used to take a dinghy up to the lakes on a trailer. If I saw cars behind I would pull in and let them past. In 70 miles I would do this three or four times costing me only 5 minutes to my journey time. However once got behind a snake following a caravan from Tenby to Ross on Wye. The t**t never pulled over once in 120 miles. Net effect on me and everyone else stuck behind him an extra hour on our journey times home.

I have noticed that even driving 85mph indicated I am now one of the faster cars on the Mway whereas in years gone by you could be cruising along with everyone else all doing 90-95mph. Not any more.

My assertion still stands though...

If you can't afford the fuel sell the car.

You know why you cant overtake the snake, is because people who cant pass the lead car drive to close therby those in the snake cant jump 1 car at a time.
Its not the lead cars fault.

...true, but the lead car should let following traffic past every now and then.

Not always simple, could cost more just to get a smaller car

I don't feel safe in a small car, a bigger car tend to have a better NCAP rating

I have a bigger car and engine than 1.2 and yet it's does much more than 45mpg, so there

The speed limit is a maximum speed not a target speed limit!

Exactly.

Well worth getting a LPG conversion now. It pays for itself quicker than it did before and was worth it when it came out even though filling up was an issue. Not now.

YEeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssss England scored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you take your LGV test you can and will fail for not making good progress, IE driving as close to the maximum limit as is practicable.... I also get peeved at these dodderers who drive 10 to 20 MPH below the speed limit to try to save fuel.....But it gets worse, I now find myself having to overtake people on powerful sports bikes who dodder at 50... Do they ever feel embarrassed when their Havabashiknackercrackie 10000 sports bike gets overtaken by a diesel van with ladders on the roof....

Maybe their reactions are slower, and their eyesight isn't so good. Maybe they are enjoying the scenery.

Maybe you should set out earlier and allow more time for your journey.
