Seen and spoke to the the Queen Mother opening the new FCC unit at Coryton refinery around 1984 which was her 2nd visit and prior to this opened the new refinery in 1953 which was known as Vacuum Oil which is now shutting down
It was a hot day and the grass verge was brown so they painted it green so its wasn't noticeable!

Couple of years ago, I was walking along a road, which is in quietish, non-descript suburb of Bristol (if Pred's watching - the road between the Salutation and Blaise Inn). From nowhere, a couple of police bikes suddenly appeared and blocked traffic from coming out of a T junction.
A minute later, two cars appeared. One of them was a black Range Rover, and as I stared at them to see what all the fuss was about, I could see Princess Anne driving it. They swiftly went on their way, followed by the police bikes.
Just seemed a bit surreal. There I was, walking along, minding my own business - bit of action - royalty drives past totally unexpected - then seconds later I'm back in my ordinary, humdrum day.

Saw the queen abck in London in 1977. Also saw her close up when I was a wee baby - she told my mother that I was a very beautiful baby.
