I don't think he is seeing as he reckons that the police haven't got anything on this character. They must have something to declare the little girl dead, which means they are just looking for a body, and not searching anywhere else or looking for any other leads.

IMHO either they have nothing on him and are hoping they were right or he has admitted it but doesn't know where she is. There were reports of him being seen by the river with a black bin liner, so if she's gone in the water she could be anywhere downstream.

Very sad for the family and the little girl, I wonder if anyone including whoever did it will every really understand why.
