If he can speak Mandarin or other Chinese languages this will put him at an advantage to Chineese businesses who may not have good English. There is a Chineese printing company at the business park I am based at, and they do a lot printing for most the Chinese take aways in Manchester for that very reason.

The major difference between the 1652 & the 1653 families is that the 1653 stores the data which you can download to your computer. Whether this is valuable only you can decide. It won't make any difference to your testing procedure or the quality of results - but it might be useful in difficult working conditions.

but they may not be the cheapest or offer the best buy for recalibration etc.; it's worth shopping around (I have a Metrel which is similar - no complaints about the instrument but I paid far too much for it a couple of years ago)
