Went to do some PAT testing and since my tester is out of calibration and has no lead test went to use the schools Fluke 6500 PAT tester.
However I found the earth continuity readings at 25A were far lower than the readings at 200ma and since much of the stuff tested was IT did not really want to use the 25A option. Sure the 25A reading was the correct one as matched reading with low ohm meter and my tester. The 200ma test always read on the high side failing many leads which were OK.
Is this normal for Fluke 6500 PAT tester? Or is the tester faulty? I did zero readings.
Second part way through the test it started to say fuse blown on patch leads. However when I can to test this was not the case. Started testing leads with my old PAT tester then re-tried only to find it was now working OK. Wondered if over heated. Anyone else had this problem.
There was no info as to when last calibrated and since not mine no history but I was not impressed. I will make up a test lead set for next time and use the low ohm meter and my old tester but wondered if anyone else has experienced problems with these testers?
