Hello, just a quickie. My oven is rated at 3.1kW. About 14A. The manual says it needs a 'minimum fuse of 16A'

My cooker circuit is currently 32A MCB > 6mm cable > 45A Cooker Switch > 6mm cable > Cooker Outlet Plate > 1.5mm 3 core flex > 16A oven.

Would it be safer for me to change it to

16A MCB > 6mm cable > 20A DP Switch > 6mm cable > Cooker Outlet Plate > 2.5mm 3 core flex > 16A oven????

Or any combination of the above?

Does it matter that I have a 45A switch? Is 1.5mm cable enough?

As a side note, I am also planning on adding a fused spur from this ring to power the ignition on a gas hob, so a 5A fuse?

Thank you.

Edited with the right cable description

A 32A MCB offers no protection for 1.5mm cable. 1.5mm cable should have about a max 16A MCB. Why is the oven in 1.5 mm T+E??

Please tell me I read that wrong as my glasses are steamed and the Black Sheep is kicking in!!!

The oven should not be made so that it relies on the circuit protective device to protect its internals. But they might have done that.

And they do specify 16A.

A larger cable might not fit, and also if you do get problems with it they might try to use the fact that you did not have it on a 16A circuit to wriggle out of a warranty claim.

So yes - it would be better to have a 16A MCB.

So let me get this clear. If I keep the 32a mcb I need to upgrade the oven flex to at least 4mm t&e. If I swap it for a 16a mcb, the 3 core 1.5mm will be fine?
