ok guys....washing machine works fine, but fails to drain out the water after washing, hence drum is filled with water and lock symbol displayed on panel...so i turned power off machine, and with a bit of string managed to open the door..took out as much water as i can, renmoved what i presume is the filter located on the base of the drum at the back..see pic, nothing really blocking the filter, so itook off drain hose connected to sink , ran water through it and it flowed out at the other end so drain hose is not blocked....i then removed the drain pump, to see if the impelller was jammed or clogged, but that was fine...i assemble everything back...and ran the machine with load of clothes , worked fine for a day , washed a couple of loads and the water drained out..yipee !! i thought fixed it...but next day same problem...followed this vid here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKjKi50YBpI i get 170 ohms reading..ive orederd a pump, not very expensive, but ive been told there shud be resistance across the terminals such as the one im getting, but in vid it says reading shud be very low...any ideas or advice ?...been told to connect the pump to a 240v supply and check if its working..dont want to do that seems kind a danagerous..lol

in the picture the pump looks as though it has something in it
take it apart (3 screws ) and clear it
these pumps rarely fail as they will stall quite happily, the usual thing that blocks/jams them are pennys screws and general build up of Fluff etc

you have also posted this in wrong section mate
the mods will move it for you

Matt

no mate pump is free from blockage, what your seeing is the one way rubber flap the is slightly pushed inside...thats not the problem...think ill invest in a new pump its only around £15 , if it still fails then i may send the machine to the graveyard..lol, ill take off the drain pipe from the sink as well and give it a good claen out...but it doesnt appear to be blocked as water flow s out of it..

can a mod please move this to the approprate section..cheers

You do sometimes get a "lazy" pump that just works when it feels like it so hopefully the new one will sort it. I have known those one way rubber flap valves to give trouble so I remove them in cases where there is no possibility of waste water from elsewhere backing up into the washing machine.

yes thats the point of the rubber seal to prevent water going back, its a one way seal..anyway will post back to see if the new pump will solve the problem..cheers

You need to ensure the drain hose is raised above outlet before it exits or sink will syphon into machine.

oredered a pump online sent the wrong one, waiting for correct one to be delivered today...just wondering would would worn carbon motor brushes have anything to do with the washing machine not draining out the water ?
