Decided to go today... pretty cool place really.. as for fast-track.. £12 for FT on certain rides, so you could spend £36 or £48 on FT on all rides...

Queued over an hour for Rita, only to see at least 50 people (FT) poll in and wait a minute before going in front of me !! downright rude if you ask me !

I queued for almost 3 hours for Rita, only for it to pack up when were were about 50 people from the front  Some people in front of us bailed from the queue, only to watch them fix it within 5 mins.

I reckon that at some point it has to get to the point where the cost outweighs to the limited opportunity to get on the "good" rides. You can't fast track everyone......

Its been a couple of years since I went, great day out kids loved it and I would advise anyone to get the fast tracks ...couple of quid extra but worth it

Fast track proves one thing.

The more money you have the better quality of life you can have.

Abramovitch's yachts and private jets prove that.

It's still out of order though I reckon, for a place like that to take your money off you for a go on the ride then expect you to stand aside for someone else paying more. Bstrsds
For that reason I wouldn't go personally.

I didnt know u had to pay for FT? :?

In the US parks it's simply a first come first served basis to reserve your ft ticket till they run out...

In hindsight, take your own food, use tesco vouchers, do what you can to get in for nowt, and then pay for fast track...

Not been for a couple of years but we queued for 2hours for Rita and wished we hadn't bothered - it aint even that good!! The ride itself only lasts about 20seconds.

One tip i've found, leave all the 'big' rides until late in the day - a lot of people travel a fair distance to get to Alton Towers, so after 3.30pm the crowds start to reduce as people start to make their way home. We couldn't be bothered joining the massive queue for Oblivion at 11am, but we went back at 4pm and walked straight on - no queue at all - there were spare seats on the ride as we went round!! Do check what time each ride closes though, as they don't all close at the same time.

Check before you go if any rides are out of action. Whilst they arent a main attraction, last time we went, the cable cars weren't working which means we wasted a lot of time walking from one end of the park to the other - would have spent much less time if we'd been able to use the cable cars.

Finally, something i've never tried but have been told by several others - visit on a Bank Holiday Monday. It seems like a bad idea as you'd expect it to be really busy, but it seems most people think the same, and so its actually really quiet. One of my friends goes every year and always goes on Bank Hols and says they hardly have to queue for anything.

I agree though that the FastTrack shouldn't be allowed - just another way of fleecing us and as you say, if everyone that went bought a FastTrack ticket, it'd be pointless. The more people buy them, the less effective they are. And I don't see why they need to charge £6 to park your car too, robbing *******.

Im being a pedant, but surely it in fact only proves that more money you are willing to spend, the faster you can get on a ride in alton towers?

You do not nesserally have to have more money to be willing to spend more, and you certainly do no need have a worse quality of life without fastrack than with it.
