vauxhall vivaro 2.0 cdti missing a beat wen accelerating

i have a 2008 vivaro(2.0 cdti) and need some advice please,the problem is that it misses a beat wen accelerating seems astho it cuts out and fires sraight back in, once or twice wen this has happened the engine managment light has come on but only stays on for few seconds any help or advice would be much appreciated

I can only hazard a guess mate, but the EGR valve, which allows exhaust gas to be burnt twice, can give this symptom if its clogged with crap.....which they always are.
Excess smoke is also a bit of a giveaway.
