Upvc French Door dead bar locking adjustments ??

I have Upvc French Doors opening into the house.

90% of the time only one door is used and the other remains locked.

The door commonly used has no problems the other that is locked most of the time, you have to lift it to open.

Found that the locking rod/bolt that protrudes on top and below the door when locked is the dead lock, but when door is unlocked the lower lock/bolt is still protruding under the door still in its locking plate and having to lift the door to open. The door used mostly has the dead rod/bolts top and bottom also the finger locks down the side to engage into the one having the problem.

Would there be any adjustment within the door mechanism to correct this.

The shoot bolt section is seperate to the main lock and they marry together in a male/female fashion, the male portion is the main locking mech which is on the door and this has serated outer edges, the shootbolts are female and have serated internal edges, in some cases it could be possible that a shootbolt has jumped a tooth and hangs down lower than it should and then catches the bottom keep/striker plate

Now to gain access to the mechanism on the slave door you have to take off the flying mullion, this is the central bar that runs down the middle but opens with the second door (the slave door), you should see 5 or 6 screw caps along the length, pop these out and unscrew the mullion, this will then expose the locking mech. You now have to remove 2 or 3 self tapers and split the shoot bolt from the main locking mech and reassemble the shoot bolt one tooth higher making sure the door handle is fully down and also making sure the shoot bolt doesn't protrude below the door

You could also cheat and lift the door using the hinges

If your hinges are like this then you should have allen key adjustment 3 ways, up/down - left/right - in/out, use an allen key underneath the hinge to lift the door up, keep checking it locks fully with the master door though
