Please can anyone help me. I recently bought a swan gas cooker sx1030. When the man came out to fit it he said we needed a half inch bsp fitting, as my cooker came with no manual does anyone know what type of half inch bsp fitting I may need? I've searched online but there is so many of them I haven't got a clue which one I'll need. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Presumably this guy was not a registered gas installer otherwise he would have been able to finish the job. Much will depend on what your gas supply to the cooker is like at present but you will need someone properly qualified to make any changes to the fittings and connect the cooker.

He most certainly was a registered gas installer, I thought he would have the fittings on his van but obviously not. It was through our local housing association so we were getting the cooker fitted for free this is why I think he told us we needed to provide the bits but as I don't have any clue about cookers and fittings I posted on here to see if anyone could help me as we haven't had use of a cooker for over a week.

Ah ok I guess that makes sense. However without more information about the pipework and existing fittings I'm not sure anyone here could give you definitive advice on what you need.

Does the cooker have a flexible connector - a thick black hose with a bayonet connection on the end? What does the gas pipe supply for the cooker look like? Can you perhaps post some pictures here?

It's a pity he didn't give you a bit more information about the exact type of fitting you require.

I wish he had gave me some more information then I could have had the piece ordered by now. I have uploaded some photos onto my profile.
