Perhaps void is the wrong term. To avoid running the pipes along the wall or ceiling, I wish to feed the pipes from the boiler in the extension, up into the 'space' above the ceiling plasterboard then through the lintels into the 'space' above the existing ceiling, and from there up into the airing cupboard above.
Good idea, I'll have another look at the plan to see if that is feasible. I think it will depend on the total height of the lintels plus the tray above which bridges the cavity.
